Sweet Home Alabama

After two months of sleepless nights, and a suspected stomach ulcer, Clint's new boat finally finished the last leg of it's 3000 mile journey from Crane Hill, Alabama to Nanaimo, B.C. on February 27. The boat arrived safe and sound in Blaine Washington where Clint and his dad met up with it in a mall parking lot. A quick trip over the border to Canada and on to it's new home with us. Clint was like a little kid at Christmas, tearing off the shrink wrap in the driveway, doesn't take much to make him happy. He actually sliced a little hole in the wrap at the ferries and slid in to have a look. My reaction, it's big! It's also in showroom condition, truly mint. Apparently we needed it for the baby, so I guess it's here to stay. After a few minor modifications, ie: downriggers, rod holders and a kicker, it will be ready to FISH HARD on the wild west coast. One bonus, there's no carpet, you just hose out the fish blood, nice!

Sunny Days

We've had a few days free from the rain over the last month, so of course we decided to take advantage of them and get outside. In true Vancouver Island style, it was even warm, only sweatshirts required. Here are the Stanndard's and the O'Hara's on the Nanaimo River basking in the sunshine. The only thing unusual is that we did not lug a cooler full of beer and wine with us. Living the clean life now, with the student, the guy who doesn't drink and the pregnant chick, my how times change!
